 This piece immediately reminded me of the “lover's eyes”, which appeared in Great Britain around 1785, in which, inspired by the royal couple, lovers presented each other with paintings of their eyes on rings, brooches and necklaces, as an expression of love and devotion, thus earning the name "lover's eyes" ⠀
